Unless you have an actual need for the added performance aspects of the lift you should just leave it the way it is. Lifting a truck just because you want it to be bigger or look cool is not enough of a reason to do it. You will be wasting alot of $ down the road unless the lift is justified by how you actually use the truck. Yes, I have a 7+" lift on my CC/LB and it sees plenty of use to justify the lift. I also have an '03, two '07's and three '08's that are not lifted.
BTW....Loading and unloading is not the problem most people (without lifts) state, at least for me it's much easier on the back, but then again I am over 6' tall.
Ill have to agree with these guys, while looks wise I love the look of my truck with 8'' of lift, but its getting to the point where it is more of a pain then its worth. Hard as hell to load and unload the bed, kids in the back etc. Im looking to put mine back like yours (2'' leveling kit, 350 blocks and 35's)
Well, I have another truck that gets worked. This is just a driver. I agree the truck looks good the way it is, but to say that it is going to wear parts quicker and get worse mileage is kinda far fetched. Remember, I am not going to a bigger tire just putting a little more clearance between the wheel well and the current tire.
This truck has worked the last 5 years, it has been retired to enjoy life and show off a little. Going to a 4" lift will only move things around a little bit, an alignement after will make it drive just like it coes right now.
Thanks for all the compliments on the truck, and the opinions on the lift.
Good grief! Everyone here is acting like they are Toyman's parents! Pretty sure he wasn't asking if he should lift it, just how much. Without changing tires, I think the 4" is the best option. Otherwise you are going to look like you are from Kingsley.

Not really all that far fetched. Think about it, our trucks already have the aerodynamics of a brick, your actually going to be raising it even higher. Center of gravity is also going to be out of whack. How much, well that just all depends, but it does get off.
As to wearing quicker. You are adding more stress to the parts. Changing angles, pitches, it has to deal with more wind resistance, even a little more work to get that big thing rolling is going to require more work.
All that adds stress and even hurts MPG as well.

True, but I have also found that also doing that may bring up points that the OP(rather this case or in other threads) may not have considered when thinking about doing this. That's why I mention all the issues when people start talking about doing injectors. Some people actually don't realize all the factors that come into play when you do a mod like that. Just because "you" may not want to "hear" about it, doesn't mean that it isn't a valid concern.
Hey I bought "site unseen" a full fabtech lift for 05-07. all I know is it has full rear leaf springs and everything is new in the box. Guy thought it was a 6'' but said might be a 4'' I will have it in my posession later in the week if you have any interst. Bought it from a guy that bought out a shop that went out of business and now needs some quick cash.
06silvercrew send me a PM with the info on that I might be tempted.
tex25025, I may have failed to mention that have owned and lifted truck since the early 80's. I actually used to own an off road shop in the late 80's. I understand what you are saying, but if you look at my truck already clearing 35's with a leveling kit I would actually only be going about 2" higher. After doing an align ment the only geometry that would change would be the drive shaft angles. NOW, you do bring up valid points but as fordblueheart mentioned I will lift it, but probably only 4". Mostly because of what all has to be done to do a 6" correctly.
Thanks for all the input guys, keep coming with your opinions, and thanks for all the compliments too!!

I don't think FabTech makes a 4" kit.
(But they do make GREAT stuff, I think Fox makes there shocks)

Knowing that would have had me keep my mouth shut that's for sure. After that I would expect a little more knowledge about such things then the average joe.

I looked back through your posts and all I found was:

To me there is a difference between I am going to do something versus I want to do something. I want to put compound turbos on my DRW, but I doubt I ever will, for a variety of reasons. This is nitpicking, but if you were to ever hang out in the 6.0 forum, that's what I'm known as. The pain in the *** nitpicker.

Nit picking can be fun tex . That being said, I was still looking for what other people would do if they had the choice. Not saying that I was going to put a 6" lift on if that was the majority. The vision I have of my truck is MY vision, I was curious what others saw.
I'm not looking to compensate for anything, or to be flashy, or draw anymore attention. This truck gets so many compliments the way it is, but I see it as being a little on the short side. Besides it won't fit in the garage as it is so why not make it a little taller?
I think your truck looks Great! Not too tall, just right with your wheels/tire combo. If I had to choose a lift, it would be a 4 inch, keeping your current wheels. I like the look of the trucks with the 6-8 inch lift and the right size wheels/tires, but only as a truck to look at.
There are several where I live with 20 inch lifts with who knows what size tires. They are nice to look at, when someone else is paying for them.
Good luck with your decision! Either way your truck looks Great!
