i have a 95 full size bronco with push button 4 wheel drive. the problem is when i push the button everything seems to work except the front hubs are not locking. i checked for power and i am not getting power to them. my hunch is the electronis shift cotrol module the only thing is i can not find it. does anyone know what the problem could be and where the module is?
The module is inside the R kick panel, but your problem is strictly mechanical. Change your auto hubs to manuals and you'll never have trouble again. If you're determined to stay with autos, I have a nice low-mileage set, but I wouldn't advise it.
Do you hear a clicking sound by the passenger side door when you push the button? If not, then it's probably the control module. If you hear a clicking, but it still doesn't shift, then it's probably the shift motor on the t-case. Do a search of the boards, there's been a ton of posts on this one, and I'm sure there will be more than enough info for ya. Good luck!
thanks for all your help guys.. i found the module. it is by the passanger seat on the floor. it seems to be doing something but i am not sure. it makes a clicking noise when the button is pressed. is this module responsable for supplying power to the hubs in the front? did anyone else have this problem.. thanks in advance for any help i might recieve..
Just a thought, you sure the hubs are good?? When my autos on my 96 went, they made a god awful sound. All of the normal engagement sounds are there, but seeing as the hubs cant grab onto the axles, there useless. Just something to think about
All my buds that "had" Autos, had the same exact symptons you are describing. They switched to Manuals and are much happier, specially now that they can use 2wd low Something you may want to consider, the pros of having manuals are soooooooooooo many more then the cons......... Get rid of those peices of CRAP and get something that is dependable, reliable, and will take a helluva lot more beating.
kidhudi,
As Steve83 said, if the problem is with the hubs you are dealing with a strictly mechanical problem. There are no electrical components in the hubs. This would be the place to start before tearing into the shift module or the T-case.
