Today I went to my interior guy, that changed my cloth to leather interior,to have him redue some expedition armrest...he completely custom made new ones right in front of me within like 5 minutes...So I ask him whats the chances of making custom extended armrest for my Excursion being the factory ones are so short...He tells me he could easily make extended arm rest for the Excursions by welding more metal onto it and then custom making the cover like he did this set??..Why doesnt anyone make these yet??..I mean they are so short..So I plan on making my Ex the first one to try this,he has made custom interiors on some hotrods and made it into magazines so im sure he will do a nice job....I will post pictures when he is done...
At some point in the past I remember a thread from some user that had his seats redone with new leather, 3rd row head rests and captain chairs from front installed in the second row. Anyways, part of his interior work was having the front arm rests extended. I've always liked the idea of that. I'm anxious to see how it turns out for you.
O.K I thought about the elbowrest some more...I think im going to go wider to fit a normal arm..Im going to go just up to the console on the width....Im also going longer up to where the console clip starts...This should make for one really comfy arm rest that wont look out of place at all..
The factory armrest is just stupid for big guys...You actually have to tuck your elbows in tight and then set your end of your elbow onto the arm rest,it should be called a elbowrest...If I get time tomorrow I will go by and have him get started on them..

Trust me it ain't any good for small guys either If you rest your elbow on it - your hand don't reach the steering wheel ! lol
Can someone give me notes or photos (even better) on how to remove the armrests. I have looked and can't figure it out. Maybe I'm not so good smart :P
You have to remove the leather or cloth cover starting at the rear of the armrest(you will have to fight it some, but it does come off)..Once you slide the cover foward some you will see a big t-60 bolt, remove that and your done..I plan on getting this done but due to the holidays and alot of stuff going on right now it will have to wait till this monday to start the armrest project..
