What F250/F350 is Best ?

One of these days, I plan to start looking for a good used F250, or F350.
Basically this will be a work truck/tow vehicle with four wheel drive.
What year and type truck do you think has the best value ?

2011 F350 Super Cab, short bed, 4x4 with gas engine and 4.30 gearing. Buy it today, swap gears to 4.88 with lockers front and rear, 2" - 4" of lift and throw some 37" tires on it and call it good. Best truck, best value for a work truck/tow vehicle.

BTW, sell the stock 4.30 gear set to someone that wants a little more oomph.

Oh Man ! Talk about making me drool...
You are right, that would most definitely be the ultimate dream truck, and it could be possible. I don't think my dream included that big of a payment.
What would mechanically be the best and most durable used truck ?

You do realize you're opening the worm can no the gas/diesel debate again...

IMO, 05 or newer so you get the stronger frame, coils up front for a better turning radius, 3 valve motors (if you choose gas), and torqueshift trans. All a matter of what you want to do with it, you really can't go wrong with a well maintained used super doody.

Meh, black is the new red. Besides, black is slimming, and with me being 250lbs., I had to buy about 8,000lbs. of slimming.

I like the gloss black, but red is the best color for a SD IMO.

Realize that there is just about no difference between an F-250 and an F-350 with single rear wheels. The F-350 is rated to haul more (stuff in bed) but is not rated to tow any more.

Which truck is best? There is not a single answer for this. It depends on what you need to haul, what you need to tow, what you need to put in the cab, and even what your preference is on engines and transmissions.
