That's some real special gasoline you got there in Venezuela with no carbon.

No cat, no O2 sensor. Plug for the O2 is dangling. Local genius at the gas station says some HD trucks came sans cat and sans O2. I can believe no cat, but I don't believe this truck came without an O2 sensor.

BUT- I have been sure of things in the past and been wrong- so before I go any further, I want to make sure- This truck needs an O2 sensor hooked up or it will not run right, correct?

I know a thing or two about EFI, but this is my first Ford truck. The only doubt I have is that there's no trouble code for O2 in the computer- it is reading bad MAP and bad ECT, both of which were verified with a meter and are being replaced this week sometime. I have never seen a non-antique fuel injection system without an O2 sensor. Please confirm.

Guys,
Very late reply and maybe it is useful for someone. I have a '94 EFI 302 Bronco that has been giving me problems since I bought it 5 years ago. Same thing; no cat, no O2.
After finding a specialist here, they told me there is a loop inside the plug, giving a constant to the computer. Mine has been manufactured in Venezuela, but engine from the states.

Still got the issues and thinking about converting to a carb-setup.

Regards,
J

could you crawl under and take pic of sensor plug they are saying has a loop in it, here in the USA they had MIL eliminators for mustangs, a few people I know have tried using them hit/miss, I'm not trying them, O2 sensor too cheap not to use, PO could have changed PCM, and/or has a piggyback/stand alone, Tweecer, moates, quarterhorse, pimpx to eliminate O2 and thats why your not getting a fault code, depending on code reader being used, most of us on here use the Innova 3145 Ford OBD I code reader

With the computer not having input from an oxygen sensor it will never run correctly. Downgrading to a carburetor does not make any sense.

Can you get an inspection in a non emissions test county. 95% of Texas is no sniff. They are supposed to just visually inspect exhaust, but if it’s not ungodly loud they don’t even look in my area.

if it’s rich you may put some E85 on top of a 1/8 tank and lean it out to get you a pass? That should lean it out really good If that’s all that’s failing you. Then fix the sensor afterwards. Of course top it off with gas to dilute that trash fuel.
