dual audio?

I have an older JVC DVD unit with an overhead monitor. When I purchased the system I was told the headphones won't work until an adapter was available for the 2004 F150. I was not sure what they meant but I never have used the headphones. The unit has a dual audio setting to allow for use of headphones and radio at the same time. I have just purchased a new monitor as the other one died (6 year life span). The new monitor is an absolute PFL 1531. It has an IR transmitter which I am hoping works with the unused Myron Davis headphones from previous purchase. A lot of info, but my question is what adapter is needed? Was I misled? The HU is a JVC KD-DV5100. Any help is appreciated...
Thanks,
Paul 2004 F150 4x4 Lariat

Myron davis and JVC were different manufactures. One of the myron davis setups I played with had an external IR transmitter for the earphones. IR should be all on the same "frequency", but the coding might be different. Kind of like TV remotes, you can buy a universal, but you have to program it to work on your TV.

If it doesn't work, you'll the wireless transmitter from Myron Davis.
