With an Edelbrock on a stick application, all you need is the ballstud that comes with the carb and that's pretty much it, no adapter kit should be required.
On my 460 I just re-used the stock return spring and bracketry and have never had any issues.
When I put my Performer RPM on it came with some spacers to raise the stock bracket to the needed height, and it still works just fine.

Ok guys,

I have the adapter installed and actually have the cable connected. If I didn't use the adapter the cable was about an 1.5" away from the carb.

My next question...what about springs? My original only had one spring...which was connected at the rear and went from the support bracket of the throttle cable. What confuses me is that the adapter was sent with a spring and kick down lever, which the instructions show it connects up front to the first carb bolt. what do I need for springs?

Get it to work the best you can. You are trying to use a automatic kickdown lever setup on a manual tranny truck. I guess you have to work with what you have, but it's all going to be custom, since you do not have a automatic.

So I do NOT need the lever?

The only reason I used the adaptor was to fill the space between the carb and the throttle cable.

You shouldnt need the adapter, just put the ball stud on the carb throttle lever. I couldnt relly tell what the problem was with the pics you emailed (I still cant view them in your gallery) On my truck it lines up better without the adapter but I needed the spot to hook up the kickdown for the trans. maybe you can bend the bracket that attaches the cable to the intake. The cable doesnt have to be perfectly straight, just open and close the throttle fully
