i have a 1986 f150 302 fi supercab lariat with a short bed dual fuel tanks. im wanting to put dual cat back exhaust on it. i have 2 cats on it. i would like to have a cat back dual set up with glass packs and straight out the back. my question is has anyone ever put one on with a kit exhaust. if so what brand worked best. would like to keep the spare tire under the truck and dont want to interfer with dropping rear fuel tank. thanks
I wouldn't mess with a kit. I'd take it to a good muffler shop that has experience with
putting duals on Ford pick ups and see what they could do for you. I think you would
be much more satisfied with the end result from the muffler shop.
Yea, unless your really wanting to do the work yourself i suggest you take it to a muffler shop. There are several places around here that will redo the whole exhaust for around 250-300.
local muffler shop by me said he would cut my pipe between the y pipe and run both pipes into a flowmaster and a larger pipe out of the other end and come out in front of the passengers side rear tire, or you could run 2 pipes out of the muffler and turn them both out to the front of the rear tires one on each side.

That's unusual. Most shops will not touch the catalytic convertor except to replace it with a new certified cat.
Yeah cats are a tricky subject because they can loose their shop of removing a cat and not replacing it. Like previously stated your better off finding a shop. I know theres one by me that will do from the cat back all new pipe for 200. Any muffler you want.
