My truck died

Hello I'm having a problem with my 2001 F350 7.3 power stroke truck and hoping somebody cans help. Here's the scenario. I was driving down the road and I had a lack of power and the truck was shifting hard than the truck died. Here's what I've done to try and fix it. change the Oil and filter, fuel filter, camshaft sensor, checked all fuses, found a loose wire under the dash reinstalled it where I think it goes. Borrowed my son's ECM out of his 99 F350. The error codes that I'm getting are P0381 glow plugs but I replace all of them three months ago. 1211, 0340, 1316. Can somebody tell me what to look for next. Thank you

Welcom to FTE. I think the 1316 is an IDM code. Usually pops up with loose under valve cover harness problems. Who did the glow plug work? There is a procedure using a multi-meter to measure glow plugs and injectors on the outside of the valve cover. Do a search for UVCH in this section. Will be better than I can describe. Others should be along. Good luck.

P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction-Check your connection, or this could be a stored code from before you changed it. If you have a way of clearing the codes do that then re-read them once you try to start the truck again.

P1211 ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired
-Check your ICP sensor. It's located on the drivers side head. If it is malfunctioning, you may be able to unhook it and the PCM will default and the truck may fire. A lot of people say that when the sensor goes bad it will show visible signs of oil leaking through it, but mine didn't. It was bone dry and all of a sudden the truck would idle like crap and cut off indiscriminately.

P1316 Injector Circuit/IDM Codes Detected
-Dean is correct, this is an IDM code, so you may have an issue with the UVCH or a chaffed wire, or the IDM itself has gone bad.

I replaced the glow plugs. is there a way to test the idm or the UVCH. I'm not at the truck right now but I will be headed there shortly. I am new to this site and not exactly sure how to do a search

This is the quickest one I could find. Post 15 describes. There should be a "search this forum" tag just above all recent posts. I know there are post with photos, just no time now.

and........ I gotta ask..... how about battery voltage while cranking ? I know it died on you but all this cranking might have pulled them down so far the injectors aren't firing. If it is, it won't crank even if it's fixed. Good luck and hang in there.

The UVCH is the Under Valve Cover Harness. It is located under valve cover. You have a connector at each side that plugs in to the cover gasket. they have been known to come loose and cause problems. You can do a search and do the 50cent mod.

What are you using to read the codes? You MUST address the P0340 code first. The truck will still start and run with one UVCH completely unplugged. The odds of both of them coming completely unplugged at the same time is too small.

Where did you get the CPS you changed? We've seen several from the local parts stores be bad out of the box. The truck will not start or run without a good signal from the CPS. Check the wiring and plug on the CPS too.

Thanks to everybody that replied I appreciate it. Thanks for the info on what a uvch is. The voltage is find while cranking. My son was using his code reader not sure which brand but I know was expensive. , I purchased the CPS at ford. I checked the wires and plug. Is there a way to check the CPS. While I was checking the glow plug solenoid I noticed I'm not getting 12v through both big terminals is that a problem.

What is the voltage when you crank? Also, not having voltage on the solenoid may be because it is not energized. Did you check during the GP run cycle? It will not always be energized. Oh, have you tried unplugging the ICP sensor?
