I have a 2K V10 with 146K. Last year had a little "skip" start. Diagnosed to be a leaking intake causing water to enter the wrong port. Dealer fix, new wiring harnesses installed. Now the skip is back but more pronounced. Almost seems like a coil but not dead completely. Strange that the weather does affect it. Dry days it does act up but not as much as damp days. Does a scanner pick up a skip? I dread taking it to FoMoCo for a 1K bill again..
I had a very similar problem, mine started to skip just a little when it went into high gear "overdrive". Didn't seem to do it as bad on damp days. NO CODES. I took a chance and changed the plugs, as I knew it was time. I also put 2 new COP BOOTS on the last 2 plugs on the right bank. Cured my problem 100% truck dosen't run any better other than the fact there is no skip now. If you do change the plugs squeeze the bottom of all the COP BOOTS and if you see any cracks replace the boot that has cracks. I always replace the last 2 boots on the right bank because they are the hardest to replace.
I will check all the vac lines. I did replace all the plugs last year. (Had an Expedition once that popped a plug)I looked at the boots - $8 a pair with the spring. I will check the boots on all the plugs.
