Amsoil tranny fluid,Should I or shouldnt I?

I have heard alot of good stories about this oil. Has anyone got this in their transmission now? I am seriously considering using it. Any opinions would be very helpful. Thanks. ( I have a V-10)

I'm currently running it in my transmission and the xfer case. When I purchased the truck the fluid was ok - but was ready to be flushed. I changed the trans filter and the fluid at the same time and shifts seem firmer and smoother. Not sure how much of that is really the Amsoil or just showed the old fluid needed to come out. I feel better knowing I have fresh synthetic fluid in the thing. I used Mobil 1 synthetic fluid in my old Expy and it was a great fluid - smooth shifts afterwards. For the xfer case - buy a little extra and while the drain plug is out and it's stopped draining - go ahead and pour a little fresh fluid in and let it flush out a bit more of the old fluid.

AMSOIL tranny fluid

We flushed and refilled with AMSOIL ATF. It is one of the best fluids on the market. Our 2003 has the trans. temp. gauge and it runs cooler and shifts better. You won't be sorry.

Synthetic ATF is the way to go!

I put Royal Purple synthetic ATF in my 6.0L torque shift tranny at 60,000 miles. I now have 90,000 miles on the X and the tranny shifts as good as the day I got it with the OEM SP fluid. You can't go wrong with a synthetic ATF. If Royal Purple was not available for my tranny, I would use B&M synthetic trick shift.

I have a customer with Amsoil trans fluid in two superduty F-350's that run 15,000 miles/month. I know that's a lot of miles, but he hauls bank repo vehicles back to the bank from across the country. He loves it, and he's pulling a car trailer with 2-3 vehicles on it. It looks like tdappleman's load up there in his post. I've used it personally for years, and recently on my 2003 F-350 but I just got rid of that vehicle and moved to something smaller (Ford Edge)

I think you would love it.

Question Can I mix Amsoil and MercV in my transmission?

I am wondering if there are any problems with adding AmsOil or any other synthetic to my transmission (6.0L with 4R100?) after draining the pan fluid only. I have no idea what is in it right now but it's not burnt or brown. I wanted to do an entire drain as found on this forum but cannot find ATF in large quantities anywhere... So, for now, I'm thinking I can just drain the pan and change the inline filter.

Also, approximately how much fluid will I drain (in quarts) if I drain the pan only? I realize it's less than half of the entire quantity.

Thanks in advance for your help!

There is no such thing as a 6.0L with a 4R100. If you have a 4R100 you need MERCON or MERCON V fluid. If you have a 6.0L you have a TorqShift transmission and need MERCON SP or MERCON LV. Get it wrong and you might be buying a new transmission.
