No crank, V-10 Ex
For the last few weeks the Ex has been intermittently slow cranking, it has always started though. When it did not start today and jumping it did not work, I bought a new battery. Well, no dice. I am getting a loud click from the underhood solenoid, is the starter bad? Or am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the starter or at least the starter solenoid to me. If you have a test light or volt meter - check for voltage at the starter to make sure it's not something in the wiring. I'd start with cleaning the battery terminals and wiring connections just to rule out the easy things. If the terminals are dirty then even a jump wont get past the corrosion, etc. You should have 12v at the main starter connection when the key is turned - if not you have a wiring or fuse/relay issue. If you do then you most likely have a starter solenoid which has decided it's done. Good luck.

Well, I did some detective work with the test light (all I got right now) and it looks like there is power through the relay down to the starter. I have power at both inputs of the starter mounted solenoid when the key is in the start position, but the starter itself is not making a sound. I tried giving the solenoid a tap tap but that did not make a difference. My question now is do I buy a new starter or can I just replace the solenoid on the starter? I am not sure which piece is bad but saving that money would be nice. Thanks again guys.
