How much is too much?,....

How much can I drive into the cylinders before I need headstuds, and or fire rings? Im about to put stage 1's with a dp tuner set up to 140 hp, along with a snow performance stage 2 water methanol injection system in my truck. I should have all this in before august, beginning next saturday. The question is will the the stock head studs hold it and if so for how long or how much more can I add before I reach a critical point?

I was reading 38-40 lbs of boost and the heads could start lifting enough to nesessitate head studs or headstuds and fire rings. How much boost do most of you guys get from stage 1's and any idea how much more (or equivalant) I can expect from the water meth system. I say equivalant because it will cause more turbo boost do to the release of excesss fuel from the meth and steam from the water. so were figuring pressure displacement plus additonal exhaust to drive the turbo harder. Any ideas?

I hit 33 lbs max with my ones and my setup. Most I've read on here are around the same or a little less.

I don't have any idea what the water meth will do.

What turbo do you have on your truck?

Running stock turbo. One more thing to factor in would be the high altitude I live at here effects turbo pressures due to the thinner air.

I'm no turbo expert but I do know if you are going to be pushing 40 lbs you need a different turbo. Someone smarter than me is going to have to help you more.

From what I've read your usually ok to 40 lbs. I've had mine above 40 a couple of times with stock studs. It always seems like I blow an ic boot off once I bring it past that. I guess that my que to lay off the skinner pedal.

If your really looking to take it past that 40 lb threshold, you need to look into an aftermarket charger. There are a couple options that have good drive ratios and are more efficient at higher rpms.

I'm not sure how many lbs stage 1's can get your to.

That's quite a bit of boost for Stage I's. Over 35psi your stock turbo is going to start wearing out. I'd say that over 40psi you should put studs in. Probably don't need fire-rings unless you are over 50psi.
