I'm in a gasser now, but used to change my own fuel filters in my 2005. The hardest part about the entire process is just getting to the HFCM. I used to get my filters at an International dealer. Can't remember what I paid for them now, but it was quite a bit cheaper than the dealer and local auto part stores. I no longer have the part number for the international version, but I'm sure someone on here has the number.

Yeah, I'm gonna start doing my own oil changes as well. When you tell somebody
it takes 15/qts, dollar signs light up in their eyes..
Labor costs have just become ridiculous..

I keep and eye on flmowner.com. This last Thursday, they had service coupons on there for a $69.95 oil change with filter and $129.99 Transmisson service. These coupons may change per region, not sure but I called up my dealer, and they did it all including the external tranny filter for these prices. Normal cost is $99 for the oil change and $189 for the tranny, but they get you on the Fuel filter change, $149 bucks where I can do it for $50, huh. I do that myself, still have a distrust for dealers to a degree. Oh BTW, they used all Motorcraft products, per invoice. Since I am leaving in 10 days pulling a 5er, I felt pretty good about the cost.

I'd play REAL hardball: First, talk to the Service Manager & Owner of the dealership and ask them to refund the majority of your money. Maybe an estimate of the same work from the dealership up in Frederick, MD that was mentioned. If they refuse, then do this:
Make photocopies of your bill (marking out your home address, etc.) and a copy of other shops estimates & maybe even the writeup TENNESSEEMUSTANGPERF wrote up, then go by that dealership on busy Saturdays, weeknights, etc. Then, when there is a potential customer there looking at ANY vehicle (but especially a truck) have a quick 1minute version of your story ready and hand them a copy of your bill and other estimate. Do this once or twice and you'll REALLY get the notice of the owner. He won't be your friend, but he'll get the message, and the best part is that is 100% true.
