so i took my truck to a valvoline quick lane to get the tranny flushed. before i went i called to ask if they used the merc v (shich is what the tranny calls for) and they said they did. so they went through with the service, and when they where done i got the bill and they charged me for dex III with an addative. I asked and they said the addative made it into merc v. so i then called ford and they said they wouldn't run it like that and they have had problems in the past with this, but i worry they just want me to bring it to them so they can do a flush on it again. Anyhow will this hurt my tranny or should i just run it. they said they have been doing it for years and have never had a problem with it. any opinions? I was pissed because they told me they used the specified fluid for it but in the end they just use an addative to make it compareable.
First off, they did not provide the service requested. I would be asking for compensation.
Second did you call the dealer or Ford Customer Service? Big difference here as the dealer does make money on the flush where as the manufacturer customer service does not.
no i called the dealership directly. i was affraid they would be more biased considering they would ge getting the money directly. I am going to go back over there tommorrow and give them hell and either get my money back or have them do it right!
Still you should call Ford Customer Service and go for armed with the manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements. It would even be better if you could get an email statement from Ford Motor Co. if they disagree with the service and explanation you received.
The opinions of a dealership would carry some weight but not a lot as there is money to be made.
The opinions of a public forum such as this are worth just what they appear to be.
