ok so my starter in my 99 f250 SD went and i have to replace it but it is the original starter and i cannot get the bolts out because they are so corroded and the ypipe and down pipe are right below the starter so i can only really get a wrench up there. o and also the bolt heads stripped round and wont even catch with a bolt-out rachet head. any ideas?
At this point i am going to suggest that you move the pipes out of the way. Use some wd40 and see if that helps.
You may have to put a little heat on the heads of the bolts as well. Since the starter is shot I don't think there is a concern with burning up the started but still you want to be real careful around the motor and anything electrical so take alot of precautions.
yea i was think bout movin the pipes but i tried heating them up before i stripped them but im scared if i heat them up too much im just gonna snap off the heads then im gonna be in some trouble and i tried PB and WD40 and neither of them would make them budge
If you move the pipes then maybe your easy out's will work. Other wise you are gonna need them out of the way so you can grind the heads off, pull the starter and then it is vise grip time on what is left.
i am thinking about trying to grind the heads off but i dont think i can reach 2 of the 3 bolts with a dringer because of the positioning of the starter
