302 cranks - are they the same before and after '81?
I know about the 28/50 imbalance. Question is: Can I use a later damper and flywheel on an early engine.
I know the flywheel will fit - will the damper?
I have a 73 302 that I'm trying to hook up to an '85 T5 manual tranny and I'm having trouble finding a 157 tooth flywheel with a 28 oz imbalance (unless I buy a new racing wheel). I'm thinking it might be easier to use a 50 oz damper if it will fit the older crank.
Try either MustangsPlus or Kaufmann Products. RAM makes 157T flywheel that comes with both the 50oz and the 28.8oz balance weights; you just bolt on the correct one.
Thanks,
I appreciate your help. I was hoping the answer was to change the damper and flywheel.....esp. as I have a late (90) damper laying in the shop. Thanks too, for the tip on MustangPlus and Kaufmann's - I'll look into them.
