Yes it is possible. When installing the converter you need to rotate it while putting a little pressure on it, as it seats in the pump it will make one thump, keep rotating it until you hear and feel a second thump. That's when it is fully seated in the pump. If you start the engine and do not have the T/C properly seated in the front pump it will ruin the front (main) pump and possibly more. Everything starts getting real expensive real fast at that point.
Thanks Moto Mel, I didnt know about the second bump. Pulling the tranny today and would have had the same out-come. Now I feel a little better about what was wrong. I let you know how it turns out. Again thanks!

I hope it works out ok for you. Welcome to the FTE, stick around and you will learn a lot.
Dropped the tranny (what a pain) reset the torque converter & re-installed tranny. Re checked everything & fired it up. Runs like a new knife cuts. Can't believe how much stronger it sounds. No leaks. Ran it for 30 min @ 2500 rpm & changed the oil. Road test tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed. Thanks to Moto Mel for his input.
