yes to the new washers, and they were torqued down to spec. I didn't touch the front pump, other than to install the converter seal, and the large o-ring seal. I am now thinking the most likely situation is a small on the converter seal. Yeah, I am a little disappointed that after all this time and work, my first transmission job works, but leaks... I put some No Leak transmission fix in it last night, and drove around a little bit. Hopefully that will fix the issue, but needless to say, I am not holding my breath. Thanks for your thoughts on the issue, I guess I am glad that they align with mine.
i hear yah its happend to all of us that work on vechicles...i had to pull a couple back out when i was working in a gm dealer, things like that happen once in a while, glad to hear its your first rebuild that went well except for the leak. i did a lot of auto transmissions and had very few problems except for my last one which happens to be mine: 1970 mach 1 with a fmx automatic trans....could not find all the hard parts i needed for one clutch drum ( wave plate vs.beveled steel plate). trans vendor assured me replacing wave plate with a beveled steel would be fine, now it bangs so hard shifting into reverse , hard enough to break parts , i put the car away for some time, still collecting dust, and almost no time to work on it, most likely the clutch drum needs the wave plate....i hear your pain brother!!
Yeah, all things considered I am happy with the rebuild. Really disappointed with the leak, especially since I have to drive to my buddies wedding 5 hours away in two weeks!!!
That sucks about your Mustang, but strangely makes me feel a little better. Thanks for all of y'alls help and advice, it has been much appreciated. This is a great forum.
