question powerstroke
you should post in yhis forum https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum31/ lots of 7.3 knowledge there
These trucks have an OBD-II port, but they are technically not OBD-II compatible. They throw Ford-specific codes, and you need a compatible scanner or diagnostic tool to read them.
Just based off your post, my first bet would be a loose UVC harness. It's unplugged, and one entire bank of injectors isn't firing. If you do get access to a compatible diagnostic tool, look to see if a P1316 code is thrown. If so, then you'll need to pull codes off the IDM to tell you which bank is dead. Once you know which bank, you can pull off that valve cover and re-connect the harness.
In addition, Ford does have harness adapters that prevent the UVC from coming unplugged again. So if you go that route, you can pull both valve covers off, put in the clip adapters, and be done with it. And if you're really creative, you can grab 2 quarters, grind them down to size to fit in the UVC, and use those instead of the Ford adapters. We call that the "50 cent mod".
