towing capacity

Hey guys I know this question gets asked alot but i'm feeling kinda lazy so here goes. Does anybody know what the towing capacity is for a 96 f-150 with e40d and 3.55s? The sticker on the door is too faded to read. I guess the closest I can get is the rating for a super cab. I'm sure the crew cab conversion lowered towing capacity some. Thanks

I forgot what engine your truck has. Is it a 5.0 or 5.8?

Sorry, forgot to mention that. It has the 351 in it. Does the engine in the half ton make that much of a difference? I guess the torque difference would help it out some. Thanks.

Max combined weight is 11,500lbs for that powertrain combo in an F150 so weigh your truck and then you'll know how much trailer you can tow.
I'll add that the truck will need an additional trans oil cooler and a valvebody shift kit(not a plug-in electrical module) if you would like to keep the transmission under the truck and functioning normally.

You won't find your configuration in a Ford manual because your truck is an aftermarket conversion. Nice truck though.

Do you have something specific in mind to tow?

Nothing really specific to pull. Just gathering info for when I do. I have always been one to push the limits a little but won't do anything unsafe.

Stock, probably 6000 or so. With some upgrades, especially to the tranny, a good brake controller and an anti-sway hitch you might get away with 8000. But it's going to struggle up hills with that much weight.
