I was driving with both windows down, got home and went to close them, neither would work. No click, no motor noise, nothing. I assumed it should be the fuse so I got the owners manual to see wich fuse. It said the dome light was on the same fuse. Dome light works. pulled the fuse any way. It is good. Pulled all the fuses in the box inside and then the ones in the engine compartment. All check good. Thought it was master switch, put a new one in still same result.
Anyone with advise on where to look next would be greatly appreciated
I am having the same problem on my 2000 F-150 Flareside V8 4.6L. I noticed the max fuse in the engine compartment was blown out so I replaced it with a new one. When I went to raise the windows nothing happened. No noises, nothing. I checked the max fuse again and the new one was blown out. Any ideas, comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
If your referring to the MEGA fuse, it's 175 amp rated so you have a major short toward the alternator.
Once you get that solved, then if the windows don't work, there is another issue.
Look in the Haynes manuel at pages 12-17 and 12-26 for both circuits.
Good luck.
The fuse I'm talking about is a 30 amp fuse that the owner's manual has labeled for power windows. Nothing else is failing. Dome lights, dashboard lights, etc. work fine. Just the windows on both sides will not work.
I would start from the 12v source and work towards the fuse box's checking for current. If it were a
switch or motor it would probably blow the fuse in the cab first.
