When I do the KOEO and wait for the glow plug light to go off, I hear nothing except maybe the vac pump on the passanger wheel well sputtering, then stop, then sputter some more.
I do not hear my injectors (buzzing) or fuel pump operating. The thing is, my trucks starts fine every time and holds its own when I'm flooring for a 0-90MPH run. So the pumps gotta be working right.
Could the fact that its been 85F in the morning here be a factor?
You should only hear two things. The vacuum pump, and the fuel pump. The injector buzz was on shutdown, not startup. Not too many still have that flash anyway.
My vacuum pump is the loudest, and usually runs for 30 seconds to a minute. That's if it has had time to bleed down since the last run.
My fuel pump I cannot hear unless I kneel down on the ground next to the truck. When I change my fuel filters, I let it prime as long as it will run, 3 times minimum, before I try to start. It usually runs 20-30 seconds. I have to do this kneeling beside the truck listening carefully. While I'm down on one knee I usually say a little prayer that she will start. I mean, why not, I'm down there already anyway.
I thought the injectors were supposed to go through a self test on start up but I could be wrong. Other than that, fuel pump (stock pump is VERY quiet) and vacuum pump are it.

Could be. But without oil or fuel pressure about all they could do is check continuity through the coils. That might click I suppose.
I was thinking of the longer noises. There are a bunch of relays clicking as well as a whole lot of beeping going on. Does the glow plug relay click, or is it solid state?
