okay i was able to remove the section of drive shaft out of the slip joint, however i line it all back up and the u joint does not line up with the yoke(I believe that is what it is)...i have tried rotating the drive shaft but it does not slid into the slip joint like it should. i don't no what to do?
If you didn't put marks on the yoke and drive shaft, you will have to turn the pinion on the rear end to get it lined up. Make sure you are on flat ground and have somebody move the truck a little till it lines up.
My answer may be a bit risky, but with a trusted friend or tow helping out, it will work.
First of all, put blocks in place. When you disconnect the driveline, there is nothing to keep the truck from rolling. There have been a couple of guys on here that have been injured pretty good by not having the wheels blocked. Or if you have 4x4, lock in the hubs and set the t-case in 4x4. This will help by using the front wheels to keep it from rolling.
ok Safety lesson over...
If you are going to use blocks, put them about 6 inches from the front and rear of the tires. This will allow you to move the truck a little without it getting away from you.
Your problem sounds like the rear end roatated a little after you disconnected the driveshaft. If you are on level ground, have one or two of your friends push the truck just enough to get the drive line to match up the yoke & u-joint. Once there, move the blocks to hold the wheels in place then bolt it back up.

I WAS HERE FIRST!!!!!!! Gawd....always a minute slow.
The problem was i wasn't on level ground and i put blocks of wood under the tires so when i disconnected the drive shaft it must have rolled back a little...I did it a different way and jacked up the rear end and rotated the tires a little...for the safety conscious i blocked the front wheels when i jacked the rear end up haha...its back together now...got a little ticked off for a bit...btw where is the best place to get new U joints cuz the one on the end of the drive shaft is shot
im planning on changing out the ujoint sometime soon...what will i need to make sure i do this job correct? is there any special tools i will need and is there a write up any where on step by step instructions?
