My battery and cables are always corroded, I clean them and within a couple weeks they are bad again. I replaced the battery cables with very good condition ones but they are still corroding. Just recently I was driving at highway speed and lost power, my stereo went off,my two way radio, and some dash lights came on. The engine didnt die but power restored very quickly. When I got home I turned the truck off and a relay or something behind the fuse cover was clicking steady. When I removed the cover and went to look it stopped. My battery was dead when I went to leave work this same day, also I wasnt sure if I left the heated seats on or what I did.The truck didnt have the heated seats originally but they were installed direct to the battery this is why they can kill the battery. I read some forums with electrosis problems I was wondering if this might be my problem. HELP
Sounds like an overcharge condition, if it's just the battery connections, boiling the battery acid. Could also be a marginal battery causing the overcharge too...
I just recently had a battery go bad, corroded up the + terminal VERY bad, and went dead as a doornail one day. Pulled it, replaced the battery with a known-good one, and no more problems. So in my case, it was the battery.
I just replaced a boat battery due to similar issues. When charging it (peak charger) it would make a bubbling and hissing noise despite the water level topped off. The area surrounding the vents would get wet and cause corrosion.
You can try to charge up the battery fully and test the voltage and have it load tested if you want but its probably in bad shape. May be worth double checking your alternator output also.
If you get a new battery mix up some baking soda and water to clean the cable connections and use a deox goop on the terminals.
Yeah it is right at the battery pos and neg, and the top of my battery is a bit wet on occasoin I will try and replace it see if it helps, its actually a new battery but a canadian tire brand. It was cheap so I dont doubt what you guys are saying. Thanx I'll let you know what happens.
