My 04 is at the dealer with the 2nd blown egr cooler, it has 53k , no tuner all stock except coolant filter system... the first egr cooler was replaced under warranty at 37k, but they did not change the oil cooler then, about a year and 9k later i noticed that the fan was coming on when it really should not be, so i looked on fte and found out that the oil cooler should have been changed so i took it to a different dealer and they verified oil cooler was clogged and replaced at 47k, now the egr cooler is gone again... and of course it is now out of warranty... i told the service guy that i was not very happy about spending 2400 on something that he and i both knew was going to break again, so i asked to talk to the tech... he works on 6.0's all day long and agreed that replacing the cooler with another was not the way to go.. he has done a couple of trucks where he replaced with egr delete and a egr block.. he said he was going to do some research and figure out what the best thing to do is... i know that there is an infinite amount of wisdom and opinions on here.. let me know what you guys think?? i love the truck but hate all of the problems that i have had and want to fix it right this time.. thanks
Just got done putting in the First Coast Diesel EGR delete and everything whent together with no problems. I would recomend that one to anyone who has an intake that was as dirty as mine was. The one you get from them looks as good as new.
I got it with a new oil cooler for a great deal and had it in two days, anyway the tech at the ford dealer installed it for me , said it fit perfect and had no problems with it. I then pulled my 11k fifth wheel 950 miles in 95-100 degree heat with no problems at all... everything seems great so far..
I just did, about 3 weeks ago, the egr delete, using the River City Diesel unit. Worked great but the hose piece was to short. Need about 3 inches the one in the kit was about 2 inches. Otherwise was a good unit and easy install.
