1345 cases usually had a bolt on U joint for the rear drive shaft.
1356 cases usually had slip yokes on them.
I really like the 1345 case in my 86, rear drive shaft problem, just unbolt both ends, thrw the drive shaft in the bed, turn the front hubs in, put it in 4 hi and off you go with front wheel drive.
The yoke keeps the transfer case fluid in the case.
With a 1356, a few miles down the road the case would be very low on fluid unless you found something to block the slip yoke hole.
both.
zf5 is shorter, so the front needs to be shorter, and the rear needs to be longer.
If you can, grab the shafts out of the donor truck , front then becomes bolt in, and rear too if the wheelbase is the same as your truck, well, assuming that the donor and your truck have the same yoke size/style on the transfer cases.
