The first time I saw this site I hadn't bought my truck yet but I had come here to do some research about the 6.0.I did my reading and bought a brand new 2004 6.0.I came to this fourm almost daily and read, read, read.I finally decided to join in May 2006 to ask some questions and to help out with what I could.
You guy's remember when the 03 6.0 came out right?Everybody knows it was kind of a mess.Trucks were smoking, surging and injectors were dropping and nobody really knew how to fix these new high tech engines. Not all but alot of the Ford techs had no idea how to fix the 6.0 and were basiclly doing trial and error to try and fix them.Let's just say it wasn't a whole lot of fun for some of the 03 6.0 owners in the beginning.
Let's fast forward to today,6-14-10.What a great time to own a 6.0!In a weird sick kinda way I think it was almost good that the 6.0 had such bad growing pains.Think about what we know now.Go back to 2003,A guy would post something like "My truck surges and smoke's really bad"!Alot of reply's were "Ahhh????".Nobody was ready for these kinda problems.
Now if that question were to be asked today in 2010 you would have 25 reply's on how to fix it.Basiclly it's not so scary to own a 6.0 anymore. My truck does everything I ask it to do and more,Why?Because I take care of it.I treat it like a pickup,Not a class 8 Rig.
You guy's ever heard of the phrase "Happy wife Happy life"?The same applies to the 6.0.You keep it clean and happy,And it will keep you happy.
It's great that the techs/owners have a strong knoweledge of these engines and know the sympton to cause.
This in no way excuses Fords poor product launch with this engine that has pretty much formed the negative perception of this engine to this very day.
That is very true. Man these 6.0's have a bad rep I swear I can't even pump gas in the truck without someone walking up to me telling me their 6.0 horror stories. I just say as little as possible
Troy unless you were on the inside with the launch you really have no idea how bad it was.
No books, no tools, no training, and dead trucks being pushed off the transporters.
THAT SUCKS

My cousin is a diesel tech since '93 that basically works on Ford diesels exclusively. Contrary to what you may think, I'm quit familier what the techs and dealerships went thru. Especially the dealship he work at about 80% of the sales is diesels so they depend on this market.
Again Fords lack of planning and implementation caused them a black eye, and forced alot the tech's to move on. Sure Ford did a little PR with the techs to stop the bleeding, but was a little too late.
