Hey guys, well, our 1955 F100 arrived.....and we are sooooooo happy!! We had a good look around it, and looked up the chassis number...only to find it is a 1953!! Someone has fitted a 1955 grille to it!! So we are looking for a 1953 grille, anyone got one they wanna part with?
We have got nearly all the panels off, and have been stripping them by hand, ready for repainting, we have a heap of pic's if anyone wants me to post them, I will.
I gotta say, when the US automakers went to welding, did the bolt industry go broke??!!?? I don't mean that in a negative way....There is just soooo many bolts....still, it makes it easy to pull her apart!!
Cheers,
Shane

Congratulations on your acquisition. You've got to be careful with grille swap stories around here. There's some folks around these parts that might insist that since it's got a 55 grille, that makes it automatically a 55, even if the numbers say otherwise.
don't see too many 53 grilles for sale round here . might be a pain too find , and i just don't trust evil bay completely . i'll keep an eye out in these parts for one . congrats on the buy though , and now it's time to go to work , then in a kazzillion years' you may enjoy it !!!!!!!
Thanks all for your support and answers.....I will get pic's up as soon as I download them...I work nights, so i only get a couple of hours a day to myself...and I spend one of them having lunch with my wife.
Ok, it didn't have a motor......when it arrived here it has an old's motor in it....so no clue there.
We are going to put a 272 Y block in it.....I have heard flatties are a bit thirsty, and can be peone to cracking blocks....plus we bought it before we new it was a '53, we thought it was a '55.
Cheers,
Shane
