On my 88 F150 5.0 it sputtered a couple of times and then about a half mile later it just died on me, I thought it was out of gas thanks to my gauges not working well but I filled her up and still nothing, i towed it home and checked for spark and nothing. Where should I start? I am very knowledgeable with motors but have no experience with this particular one.
Check for power at the coil with the key on (W/LB wire) with a test light.
If no power there check the Ignition Switch (does the radio work?).
You can also try unplugging the Computer and see if the spark returns (but it will not run).
If you have power at the coil and no spark with the computer unplugged you may have a bad TFI module on the side of the distributor or PIP sensor inside the distributor.
