A/C Wanders from Panel to Floor

Is there a common solution to this problem....some door or vac operated flapper?

Yes, parts of the HVAC controls are vacuum operated. It seems that this problem is often a problem in the vacuum source (a check valve or vacuum leak).

the blend door is electric and mixes hot and cold air to "blend the temp. what you have is a vacuum leak. there are 3-4 small doors that are controled by vacuum cylinders, they direct the air to the dash, defrost, vent, floor, external inlet air, and cab recirc. you can have a combination of two alos. Look under the dash at the firewall and see if you see any small black hoses about 3/16 diameter-- look for cracks, dry rot, cracked TEEs, also there might be a plastic ball size accumulator.. see if the hoses fell off or came loose... last choice is a leak at the control **** itself. you can have leakage thru o-rings in the controller that sends the vacuum to each piston controller... i will post a couple links to give you some ideas.
