rear diff

after getting stuck the last time i have decided that the rear end needs a locker. i got some info from arb but im not sure about the complete price after the compressor and all. a detriot tru trac is what im after but i cant find the part number for my application. also i would really like an e-locker if possible for the rear.

any suggestions?

i am not interested in the clutch style rear limited slip. i've rebuilt to many of them and seen them fail when needed most.

what are you guys (and gals) running?.
tks

Detroit locker yes or ARB or OX locker, but no to the true trac, those type of helica gears cannot take that much torque or tire size. The Detroit is bullet proof no air, wire's cables, etc. JMOP.

Yes they need the spline count and axle size, and also the gear ratio. If you plan on doing bigger tire's and a gear swap some day, make sure what ever you buy will fit that gear ratio range. I think it's 35 spline 1.1/2 inch axle if i'am wrong someone will chime in and correct.

Don't pull the axle yet someone will chime in with correct spec's, yours is a 10.25 ring gear, so hold on. You can take the vin number to a Ford dealer and they will tell you everything about your truck.

Please explain why you feel this way. Is there any empirical data you can provide to back up your info?

I ask because there are a few trucks pushing some good power that are running a Truetrac, plus I want one for my truck but haven't yet pulled the trigger due to funds.

Your 2001 has a 10.5" Ford/Sterling rear differential, same as mine. 35 spline axles.
I have a the Eaton Truetrac in my diff and it is holding up just fine. No problems whatsoever. It is part# 915A550.

Truetrac here... No issues, other then that I cant hear it, feel it or chirp around corners...

You would be more then happy with a truetrac.

All Superdutys (250's-350's SRW) use a Sterling 10.50 rear end... All OBS use a Sterling 10.25 (250's and 350's SRW).
