Can anybody tell me what the proper parking brake testing procedure is for NY inspections? My Expy failed inspection. When I got it home, I parked on my slanted driveway. I set the brake, put in in drive, then reverse, then neutral and the truck went nowhere. I want to go back to ask them why it failed. I know they tested it by setting the brake then driving forward. Is this the proper way? How many RPMs should be applied before the vehicle moves and the brake no longer stops the vehicle? Any info would be a great help.
Not sure how it's done in NY, but at least last year I was told that here in TX, they are supposed to set the parking brake, put it in drive and then rev up to 1500rpms and the truck shouldn't be moving anywhere.
Lots of people that have trouble getting through inspections seem to say that to me. I must be more of a ***** with these inspectors than I thought I was.
