I would like to upgrade the headlights on my 2000 Ex - one of them was damaged in a recent hail storm, it seems like the perfect opportunity to add better lighting
Are the 02-04 lights plug and play or do I need to make any mods to install them? What about going to the 05's? I know they use a different bulb, I see Clay sells a conversions harness, what about fitting the actual lights? Do the 05' lights put out that much more light then the 02-04 or is the reason for the swap more for looks?
02 - 04 are plug and play while with the 05-07 you have to modify the header panel and convert the headlight plug
the 05-07 headlights with standard bulbs are brighter than my 02-04 were with silverstar bulbs

Any idea how much you have to modify the header panel? I'm not very comfortable cutting on my truck.
Heres a couple pics of the cutout. I saw much better ones somewhere, they had blue tape on the header panel where you were supposed to cut it. I coulda swore I saved it, but cannot find it. Maybe someone else has it, cause they were good pics and really showed where to cut.
Its not bad to do at all, and if you screw up another header panel is only about $60 from Ed. I am much happier with my 05' headlight output compared to the original ones.
Thanks for the responses. I'm going to give the 05' headlights a shot. Now I have to decide if I want to throw a set of HID bulbs in there while I'm at it.
I am very happy with MY upgrade (from '99s) to the '02-'04 style lights, and Silverstar Ultra bulbs-haven't compaired mine to an '07 with stock bulbs, but besides the phsycal difference between the 2 styles I'll bet there isn't enough difference in brightness to worry about.
retro-solutions.com will make you bi xenon hid's that have 9007 plug on the truck side and 9008 on the headlight side for $150ish... call them and tell them ur one FTE i think its a 10% discount
Super happy w/ my 02-04 conversion, all plug-n-play. Also have a HD relay'd harness and silverstars. That handles all the low-beam stuff... can't compete w/ 8" HID driving lights on hi though.
