Alright guys im gonna try advancing the timing very slightly and see if that improves my smoke at idle situation. Its just loosen the 3 bolts and twist the IP, right? Also the blue smoke smells like fuel at idle, and like burning oil at higher rpm, but that could be the oil on the manifold burning lol.

have you serviced the cdr valve for the oil stink? also I would like to add that I have the same thinking as you because I would also like to do my IP at the same time as injectors.

onto the timing, I believe it was a 9/16" wrench I used for the bolts, I used a regular box wrench, as for fabbing a special wrench you may get lucky because I was able to get the wrench onto the bolts without any fabbing but just to the degree they were tightened I didnt have any slack to actually turn the wrench to loosen them up, so I ended up grinding the wrench until the entire wrench was about 1/16" thick and bent the open end and closed end opposite directions at 45 degree angles(dont need to heat but be careful not to snap the wrench in half lol) after that I cut the 12 point closed end to look like a crows foot wrench and I was good to go I also used a 16" crescent wrench and put it on that square on the front of the injection pump to move it, then I was ready to roll , A good tip that David85 gave me was to take a picture of the timing marks where they are now so if anything goes wrong you have a point of reference, good luck!

how long does it crank before it starts. if it cranks alot building up excess fuel in cc before starting could be smoke at startup. think you'll be robbing "piggy" for new injectors soon though.

My timing marks are lined up almost perfectly together. maybe half a marks width off, so no problem remembering where it was set lol.

I would think that if that was the case then the fuel would get burnt up right away in a big puff of smoke. Not sit there and smoke for 5 minutes.

well got my timing advanced slightly. Wasnt too hard. I pulled the fast idle solenoid and the return springs off to get to the nut on the passenger side easier. It runs alot smoother now it seems like, and it got rid of my blue smoke at higher rpms, but still have blue smoke at idle. Gonna advance it just a tiny bit more and see if it changes anything.
