Spark Knock

I have a '99' Expedition with the 5.4l. Since new it has "pinged" , sometimes very badly, in temperatures exceeding 60 degrees. I have had it in to two Ford Dealers who claim it is up to Ford spec's and they cannot determine the problem. I have tried all octane levels and use only name brand gas. Anybody else experience this problem? Were you able to solve it? Thanks for your help.

my has a 97 recently purchased, same thing, our local Ford dealer told her to use exxon or philipps 66 gas, she use exxon at our local station, no more problem
