So I just got this 03 Eddie Bauer. I really like it, and am looking forward to having a ton of adventures in it with the family. Problem I have is this:
The truck has semi auto hubs that work fine. The transfer case is apparantly stuck in 4-hi, as the front drive shaft is always spinning when I'm driving, it's never free. The electronic selector switch in the dash that goes from 2 to 4hi to 4lo doesn't seem to have any power going to it. So I can't shift the transfer case at all. I just want the switch to work properly to shift the transfer case. I've checked the wires on the back of the switch, and checked fuses. All seem okay. I'd really hate to go to the stealership to have them trouble shoot what is wrong with the 4wheel drive system. Any thoughts about where to start with fixing my problem?
I doubt that. Mine were stuck in the locked position and I had to disassemble them to get them to unlock. Jack one front wheel off the ground and try to rotate it. If you can rotate that wheel and you see the axle & drive shaft turn the hub is locked.
What does the indicator on the dash show? If the tcase was stuck in 4wd high you would know it. That thing would bind up on you. Does it seem to drive OK?

1st I would check your fuses. To make sure the one to the T case fuse is not blown. It may have blown when engaged.
Then check your connections.
Then, I suspect that the thing to do is, take it to a shop with a rack and turn the engine on, put it in drive, and see if the axles turn when the switch is in the "Off position. Just to confirm things.
