Newbie w/'07 F-150

Well, sort of a newbie; I new to the late model F-150, went from an 01 F-350 PSD to an 07 F-150. (long story )

Okay, here it is. I don't know much about the late model trucks and have been looking at threads trying to learn about Factory/OEM Nav radios and installing in my truck that only has the 6-disc system. I haven't been able to find specific info. for my application, most have to do with installing in older and newer F-250/350s, not much info. I could find on the F-150.

My question is, can I just get a Factory Nav and Bluetooth and install in my 07 F-150? Will it be P-N-P? Will I need adapters, etc.? I see a lot of post about aftermarket units, but would really like to stay OEM if at all possible.

I would really appreciate some help or a direction to look.

George

I found this radio, Part# 7L3T-18K931-CC. Anyone know anything about it?

It says fits 07 F-150, but will any programming or additional parts be required if my truck came standard with 6-disc?

Most people think there is a big benefit to aftermarket (which there is some), but OE stuff isn't bad. The 2005+ used a Controller Area Network, it's been a while since I've read the white paper on the system and it's probably been updated since the 03/04 stuff I was looking up, but here goes.

The system uses a system similar to IP addresses to talk to all of the devices on the network. The radio was the central hub to the network, the cluster talked to the computer by going through the radio. It made some issues the first couple times I played with it. If the network doesn't recognize the radio, then your in for some problems. I can't say if it will recognize the radio and communicate and make everything work perfectly. I kind of suspect it will, but if it doesn't then ford should be able to program it.

Thanks.

I just broke down today and bought a Kenwood DNX 6960 since I couldn't find much info. and the price was the same as the OEM unit. Actually it was cheaper because I also got Bluetooth on top of the Nav. I really would have liked to stay OEM, but seemed like a hassle not having the info. available.

The information on the Dodge LX Platform (Magnum, Charger, 300's) that I owned previously was plentiful and available and made the OEM swaps simple and cost-effective while retaining the factory look.
