can i get your thoughts on a edge evo for a 2001 7.3 limited,,,straight piped,6637 mod to be done this weekend, anything i should add right away, exhaust is by end of summer, any input on this tuner would be very helpful
thanks
not sure about the 7.3 but the edge is a no-no for MANY 6.0L owners in that it does not program the tranny to protect it and many have had to rebuild/replace trannies...
I have an edge eveolution on my 7.3L excursion. However it is only temporary until I can pull the trigger on some custom tunes. i really only bought it (used & cheap!) as a monitor, instead of individual gauges. The 80hp tune is nice and I drive it that way most of the time, but my fuel mileage is terrible and my egt's are high. I hope custom tunes will help resolve this. PHP can put custom tunes in an Evolution if you don't want to get a 6-position chip.

Good luck...
This is true of the Edge Juice. It is not true of the Evolution.
The Evolution is a true programmer with canned tunes. Just like any of the other tuners out there. PHP can convert your Evo into a Gryphon and custom write tunes for it. It tunes the both the ECM and TCM.

Go ask over in the 7.3L forum. You will get faster/better answers. JMO
I have an Evo 2 on my '02 EX. I find the mielage to be very good (using Program 2 which is the 80 HP) even when i tow. I do think the EGT's will run higher if you do not have an exhaust on it (I have a 4 in MBRP). I have tried Program one (towing) and find 2 to be superior w/ my mods.
I think it is a very good interim step but evenually, i would like to get custom tunes as well.
Guess I should add, i have a 6637 intake and a 4" turbo-back Magnaflow exhaust. Still my egts are high in level 2 when I punch it and keep my foot in it. But, I also have 35" tires = more load/mass to turn.
