Venting some Frustration

First I am not here to offend anyone, if I do I am sorry. I have been a Ford man my entire life, I have and will only drive Ford trucks. Ive had an 88, 98, 02, 05, and now an 08. The 02 was a dam good truck, 150k and still going strong, only had a motor mount replaced and generall maintanance done. The rest of the trucks had issues even the 05 and 08. First the 05 it needed a throttle body at 36k, the rearend had a shutter at 15k and it was a 5.4, it was a dog. Now my current truck is an 08 and at 30k I have had the PCM reflashed because the tranny was slipping, the drive shaft replaced and a cam phaser replaced. Not to mention all the little squeaks and rattles coming from the cab. My brother has an 06 with 60k, and it will take my all day to type up the problems he has had with it. I am a loyal Ford man and thats all I will drive. I take care of my vehicles and baby them, never do i abuse them. Im just a bit annoyed with the issues thats all.

over my short driving history i have always owned a ford truck as my daily driver.
91 2wd *cracked the head and still drove it to school and work for two weeks*
94 4x4 I6 *no problems T-boned a semi at 60mph*
95 4x4 351 *transfer case leaked and so did the oil pan*
93 lightning heavly modded *problems due to modifications*
99 250 7.3 *started to burn oil so i sold it*
all of them great trucks but had there problems. if it wasnt the miles it was my abuse.

i bought my 07 FX4 over a year ago and have worked on it more than all my truck combined.
i have learned one thing. ALL new truck are frail. just not built like they use to. my 07 has some great stuff the others lacked but lets face it. its an overweight car. just learned to love what it does great and just ignore the rest. if you dont you will end up penniless and bald.

One day i leaned over to clean the back window and leaned just a bit too hard on the side of the truck and now i have a crease going from the top rail of the bed down to where the two tone paint starts. I am 5-7 165lbs and did that. I ran into a tree with my 87 and did almost the same amount of damage.

Unfortunately, there's always some vehicles that are more trouble then they are worth. Sometimes it just makes sense to let the troubled one's go before the drive you crazy.

Ryan, didn't you just change your ball joints and sway bar links?

I've been lucky with my 07. It's needed very little in the 93K I've put on it.

I have an 06 and so far have had to replace the ESOF shift motor and the driver side power window switch. I'll soon be replacing the passenger side window switch.

I don't have a newer F-series to talk about but I have a 2004 Expedition and have only replaced both rear ac actuators under warranty. By far the most bulletproof vehicle that I've ever owned. If my highly anticipated 2011 F-150 is as good, I'll be a very happy man.
