My Lund Visor came off my truck yesterday, only the bolts in the center. I ended up taking the visor off because it pulled the bolts out quite a bit and made the holes pretty big in the roof.
Anyway, Just wondering how cold is too cold when paint is drying. Same with the body filler. I have to fix the holes that currently filled with silicone as to keep clean.
I have always painted before in my Uncle's heated shop, but that is not an option this time. I can easily heat my garage long enough to paint, but keeping it warm for a long period of time is an issue, as it is not insullated yet.
Any thoughts or ideas. I really don't want to wait 2+ months to fix the roof, but if I have to I will.
The temp. needs to be at least 60 degrees on the paint surface for 6-8 hours after you’re through spraying. Let the people you buy the paint from know when you will be painting so they can sell you the correct hardeners/activators for the expected temp. Be very careful in cleaning and prepping the damaged area, especially where the silicone has been applied. Good Luck
It all depends on the product that you are using. The clear that We are currently using (PG Products KWIK Clear) can be force dried in 20 minutes (20 minutes @ 130 and 40 minutes of cool down down) if you are going to use Single stage, it needs to stay above 50 degree's for 6 to 8 hrs as tom said. if you are only spraying color and no clear then, color will dry in 30 minutes or so. Hope this helps!
