Driveshaft play

1999 XLT 4x4
While checking the rear driveshaft in NUETRAL, i was able to get some movement in the front end of the rear driveshaft (where it enters the transfer case).
I have heard that any movement is bad. The movement did not appear to be in the u-joints though. Thje movemnt looked like it was in the shaft, where it inserts into the Txfr case - the slip yoke?
Now the question is: if the driveshaft turns out to be OK, the what is the part of the transfer case, which recieves the front of the driveshaft, which is worn.
What's that called?

Some movement is normal. If it's too tight of a fit there's greater stress placed on the TC as the shaft slides in and out with suspension up/down travel and a greater chance of breaking something.

BTW, what is that thing in your avatar picture?
