I normally hang around in the late '70's forum but saw this at the Ford Carlisle and wanted to share, if you find it hard to read it says just 22 original miles and un-restored!
I could make some some room in my driveway for one of those. EVen has power steering and a/c. I just might feel bad cutting up the dash to put a cd player in that thing.
And....
Not to bash this truck but isn't it kinda bad not to run/drive the truck? I know it's great for the body but what about the drivetrain?
For the most part you would be right, but if you keep it in the right conditions, temp and humidity, and you run the motor, (does not add mileage) it can hold up, but i would not buy a truck that old with less then like 80,000 miles on it.
How is it possible that that thing sat from 1970 on? Was it on display at a Ford plant or dealership or did the worlds strangest collecter know something way back then? And yep if you started driving that thing you would be leaking from every seal. I always said if I ever got hold of a time machine I'd go back and get the best F series from each decade and store em in shipping containers til I got back. My only question is, can I use this guys time machine?
Hey, I was at the same show in Carlisle, and I enjoyed those trucks too, and wished I could have brought them home. I have a hard time believing that truck has that low of mileage originally. I would believe that is the mileage since it was rebuilt.
A coupla years ago, a friend of mine bought a 1967 F100 Custom Cab 8' Styleside with SEVEN ACTUAL MILES.
The original owner bought it new at Tom Sherlock Ford in Alhambra, then drove it home and parked it in his driveway. A kid threw a rock thru the rear window.
The owner drove it into his garage, closed the door. It didn't see the light of day until he passed away in 2005.
I just can't seeing spending all that money on a new vehicle to just not drive it.
I know the 3-5 grand in the 60's was a lot of money but still not equivelant to todays prices.
I just couldn't imagine buying a $40,000 2011 SD and just letting it sit in the garage with no miles on it. I think it's bad enought I have an 01 with 68K and now drive it less than 5K miles a year.
