I just use Delo since I can get it from Costco. Thinking about synth (Mobile1 or Redline), but costs go wayy up. I just change it every 5k. With a synth, I'd go 10k. I already use Redline for my car, so I am used to the costs.
I've used Rotella for about 80% of the miles on my truck. Changed every 3k for the first 15,000 miles. Changed every 5k since then. I've also run Delo for the majority of the remaining miles. I've tried Valvoline Premium Blue a couple of times and run Mobil Delvac a couple of times also.
Here's a link to what blackstone found in my used oil sample back at 320,000 miles.
If you've got lots of time and want to see more, including a some discussions about engine life, graphs, charts, and a whole bunch of stuff that you probably won't understand, you can read the whole thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...000-miles.html
the guy i bought my truck off of said 5w40 full synth is what he uses. should i go with the 5w40 or go back to the 15w40 like they recommend. i konw the 5 weight will be thinner at startup right then the 15? will this really matter?
also on the amsoil guy, i know a guy here in town that says he goes 25 to 30k miles on oil change with amsoils full synthetic and their filters, can you verify accuracy in this?
