CAC With and Without Insulation
My 2003 6.0L has a black insulation/fabric type covering the CAC tube leaving the turbo before the intercooler. I notice that later years do not have the covering.

If it picks up heat from the engine, it is bad.
If it is hotter than the engine, then it doesn't need it.
There is no definitive answer without instrumenting the engine compartment and measuring it under your actual conditions.
