I am very interested in buying a new 6.7. Here is the question. Does any one know if the torque converter locks up in all of the gears in manual mode? Because my 6.4 slips like 1400-1600 rpm and just builds tons of heat worth in 2nd gear pulling the pass.
I am getting really tired of the **** poor towing performance of my 6.4 compared to my 7.3. Just got done towing 14,000 + lbs up teton pass in Jackson WY. Teton pass is 10-12% grades from 6200ft up to around 9000ft. I can only go 25-30 mph up where my 7.3 towing the exact same load would do 50 mph. I have tried spartan, sct and banks none has helped when towing heavy loads, none of them will power the truck past 25-30, with the pedal mashed to the floor.
both trucks have 3.73 gears.
Any way some info on the new tranny would be awsome, thanks.
I think I got a bad 6.4. Sounds like you got good 6.0 because all of the ones I drove I did not like at all. I bought this 6.4 when my 7.3 got totaled out. But none the less does anyone have some info on the new 6-speed auto?
I don't have your answer but I would reccomend that you get the right rear end gearing. The standard (I think 3.30) would probably not work well for you.
