I took a quick look in the 1997 EVTM. Looks like the DRL Module, when plugged into connector C142, gets a hold of the high-beam headlight circuits in parallel with the regular switches.
I would just unplug the DRL Module, and see if the regular high-beams still work like they should.
C142 is a Black 8-pin connector, and one position is unused, so there are 7 wires in the harness to it.
Driver's side front corner of engine compartment, either behind or ahead of radiator, down a bit. I remember seeing the open connector on mine once long ago. Too dark and too late to try to find it tonight!
