Came across a 63 Uni-body; didn't look right on the hood; the normal F100 emblems that I'm familiar with (61-64 style); was different. I don't get a chance too often to see / fine uni's in my area; (only at F100 show's & I don't pay attention well) and this one had the Orphan style emblems; long spear shape with F100 on them.
My question is does uni's have the same emblem as 57-60 or is the hood interchangable between the two style, ie 57-60 & 61-66?
Sorry no pictures to help you understand my question.
The hood center badge is the same 61-6 for 6 cylinder trucks
The V8 hood center badge is correct for 65 and 66 trucks.
On 61 thru 62 I believe theres a heavy cast spear with the model designation on either side of the rear side of the hood...its about 18 inches long give or take.
On 63 and 64 trucks as well as 65 and 66 F350s the hood rear side badge is smaller with FORD in large block letters at the top of the bezel and the model designation on the red plastic insert of it.
the aluminum side trim moldings are used from 63 and 64 for the narrow trim with red stripe in the middle.
The wider aluminum side moldings were used on 65 and 66 trucks only. Depending on the trucks package setup they may have been installed as an option or not. This is explained a bit more in my gallery which shows the package compositions for 1966 trucks...1965 is very very similar.
The hood itself is the same 1961-66. The difference is the trim holes or not on the sides.
The hood side emblems on the 63 Uni's are the same as other 63 (and 64) trucks. Seems to be popular among Uni owners to use the 61/62 spears on the 63's, particularly without side moldings.
The hood center badge is the same 61-6 for 6 cylinder trucks. Uh...what about 1961/64 V8 trucks?
The C5TZ16607A V8 hood center badge is correct for 65 and 66 trucks.
C1TZ16607B .. Hood Front Emblem (aka Badge, Ornament) / Fits: 1961/64 ALL I-6 and V8 / 1965/66 I-6 only.
Ford did not offer side mouldings for 1961/62 trucks.
1963 was the first year for side mouldings, the same mouldings were used in 1964: Thin anodized aluminum with a red painted insert. But the bed mouldings used on '63 Uni's...are Uni's only.
1965/66 side mouldings are wider, have no painted insert. All these mouldings were an extra cost option for Custom and Standard Cabs.
1961/62 hood side mouldings are spear shaped.
1963/64's have a shield style chrome bezel with FORD block letters above, a red plastic insert with silver letters denoting the series.
The hood side emblems on the 63 Uni's are the same as other 63 (and 64) trucks. Seems to be popular among Uni owners to use the 61/62 spears on the 63's, particularly without side moldings.
I understand now; thanks gritsngumbo
Also CS & ND I understand the normal; I guess Uni's want to have there own identity.
Thanks guys for clarification.
Doesn't mean I don't want to change mine to the V8 one.
Heck, I've got a set of the 302 fender side emblems off the same Mustang my motor came out of...was considering putting them on the fenders for a while.

I've seen 5.0 emblems and old Galaxie type engine size emblems on trucks; all look great; I'm building a 64 F100 currently; plan on placing some T-bird seat emblems on the 360 valve covers; to give it a different look.

The slanted 390 front fender emblems (these are right/left specific) used on 1966 Galaxie/LTD's were factory installed on the front fenders of 1968/69 F100/350's.
See if you can find a copy of this out of print book. It has 1000's of factory photos, accessory lists for each year, production figures, historical facts, decodes VIN's and etc etc etc.

Cool info. I had just recently seen a pic somewhere & wondered if the slanted 390 emblem was correct.
I got a pair of my favorites (63 or 64 Galaxie 390) emblems once but never could make myself put them on my 66 F100.
I though I never seen any on fender area; but I have seen 429 I beleive?
Mitch
429's introduced in 1968, used in passenger cars/Ranchero's only thru 1973.
429's were never installed in any trucks thru 1978. In 1979, 429's were available in F600/880's, as it and it's smaller cousin the 370 replaced the FT engines.
These trucks have 429 (or 370) fender emblems. I'm aware that two members installed 429's in their trucks, then installed these 1979 429 fender emblems on them.
