Hey guys i need some help and advice, i just picked up this truck, 1990 f-250 9"'s of lift with 36*14.5s.
It looks like someone put alot of time into this truck but the owner after him i belive kinda killed it. The truck has no 1st or 2nd gear... m50d...The second day i drove it (yes i did check the oil) the motor (302 carb) Locked up on me.... So now i have a dead engine, dead tranny but a solid frame also has a dent in door and front fender... so what do i do? i would like to get a efi 351 installed into her again, but the wireing is all hacked... push button start, switch for coil and switch for fuel pump.... Any ideas??? or has anyone seen the truck on here before? thanks,
Donnie
If it was me...I'd find a good running 5.8 truck and transplant suspension and body panels. I'm not saying this is the RIGHT way, or EASIEST way...just saying, given my knowledge, mechanical ability, and small selection of hand tools, thats the road I'd take.
I don't know where you live, but look in the NE for a rusted out truck with the 351 and tranny of your choice...then transplant the drive line. You would also get the wiring harness and other associated parts that will make costs add up if you do the swap without a donor vehicle.
A couple dents on a truck are fine to me as I use mine for working around the house, so my solution won't fix your body.
I agree... find a rusted out truck with a 351 and whatever transmission you want and swap the whole drivetrain out. Sounds like someone hacked that truck up pretty bad. Looks good on the outside though.
i also agree find a rusted out truck and take the motor the transmission and the wireing out of it that truck is in great shape for a 1990 the door and fender are an easy fix
