Hey Dentleman i need you ideas, Ive recently replaced my fuel pump and sending unit recently and i dont really have a real strong battery, so I need to find a way to prime my fuel system so i dont have to sit and crank the motor for 5 minutes before i get fuel to the carb...any suggestions?
Park it on a steep driveway, front down (or jack the tailend way up. I made the mistake of parking my truck as mentioned and removed the fuel supply hose to the fuel pump.
The gas went everywhere! I had a full tank of gas, so I am sure that helped.
But, if the lines are dry and you did that until gas came out and then attached it to the pump, plus making sure your carburetor bowl(s) are full of fuel you should be fine. The engine will run off the carb for a while until the pump is primed and supplying fuel.
ok thanks! i sorta used that method i had a half can of starting fluid so i just sprayed some in the carb ran to the can and started it then ran back and did it about 4 times until the pump got the fuel up to the carb and then shheee purredd like a kitten =)
